Hi, I’m Charita

I’m a mom, a nurse practitioner, and a woman who’s walked a path to motherhood that’s been anything but typical. My journey has been filled with obstacles: infertility, medical challenges, the loss of pregnancies, and navigating the heartbreak of being denied paths I hoped would lead to a child.

Along the way, I’ve faced hard truths about aging, race, single motherhood by choice, and grief. I’ve had to make difficult decisions, including using a donor to build my family. And through it all, I’ve learned that motherhood doesn’t come in a single, neat package — it comes in many forms, some expected, some unthinkably hard.

Through Pura Vida Momma, I share my story because I know I’m not alone, and neither are you. This space is for every woman who has wondered if she’s too late, too much, or not enough — for those of us who have stared at a baby section in Target, at strangers’ pregnant bellies, or whispered a prayer asking, “Lord, is it ever going to be my turn?”

Motherhood, in all its forms, is sacred. And even when the path looks different than we imagined, there is hope, there is joy, and there is a life worth celebrating.

Welcome to Pura Vida Momma. Stick around. Laugh with me. Cry with me. Find encouragement, truth, and a reminder that your story matters — because it absolutely does.
